Hello everybody, my name is Bradley Wells, Coordinator for Team LoTR. I am a student at Utah State University and I am taking JCOMM 2010 as part of my Major. I am Majoring in Communications(with an emphasis on Broadcasting). I plan on using that Major to become a Sports Broadcaster. I am also getting a Minor, and possibly a Major, in Spanish. I am 24 years old and I am from Tooele, Utah.
9/27/11
For the last week I had been creating a form on how our news broadcast would go. I had been creating the script we were to follow for the broadcast as well. Today, I found out that we were no longer doing the broadcast since the cameras we had were non functional and we didn't have time to acquire new ones. So now I will be creating the introduction page for our blog on the project. I have already uploaded a picture of each team member, except for Zack, who I am still waiting for the picture. I also set up all the pages that we will have in our blog and have read over the information and research that Zack and Anthony had been gathering for us for the video. For the introduction page I will be outlining some of the things about Global Climate Disruption, including the recent announcement to call it Global Climate Disruption rather then Global Warming. I will also go over some of the terms we have talked about in the class that effect how people learn and take things from the media such as Gate-Keeping and Agenda Setting and Selective Perception. I will post more information on my work as I work on the page further. I will also be organizing the final pages of extra clips and information and the sources page.
10/3/11
Today I spent from 10:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. reading over the project blog and editing out things that didn't need to be in there or things that had been duplicated. I also continued working on the homepage and defining some of the terms and media effects that occur in the media. I used the class blog to get most of my definitions. I will be getting back on later tonight to add some clip examples of how each of these terms are used to get a tell and show type of experience. I also kept in communication with each of the team mates when I was editing their posts to let them know what was going on. I also helped Zack to get his page up and running to make sure that it was working properly. I will continue to edit later tonight as I am adding on to the home page. I also added a little clip on how we got our name for the blog while also providing a link to the full clip.
10/4/11
I spent from 12:00 A.M. until 4:00 A.M. this morning finishing up the home page, adding clips to help give visual examples of what each type of terminology could mean. I used clips from Colbert and Glenn Beck. I also talked about why each clip fit for the term it was corresponding to. I also went through every page on the blog and made corrections to grammar and spelling. I added pictures, made sure all video clips were embedded properly. I added some text and took away some text to some of the pages to make sure that every page conformed with the other. I also got the sources page going and looking super nice and organized so that it would be easy enough to see what each source for each page was. I also added numbers for each source and gave the location of the source on each page a corresponding number. I will be doing more checks later in the morning to be sure that I have everything completed and to make sure everything makes sense. I will be posting on Canvas the blog information as well as on the homepage of this blog. Everything is looking good for the project. I also have printed off my team member evaluation form and have filled it out.
Total Time spent on project: 15 hours.
